Curious. Adventurous. Daredevil. Sportsman. A great nature lover... Your child is all these things and more! You're as proud of them as you are a little short of ideas to occupy their days. Take heart – you are not alone! Here are some ideas that will make even the most clueless parents the new heroes of the playground.

Head for West Mauritius, a region full of activities to keep your kids happy at the weekends or during school holidays.

I can't; there's a pony waiting for me at Cavalia

A pony of our very own – a dream many of us shared when we were children. But these days we know that a pony is not very practical as a pet. If a pony simply won’t fit into your child’s Christmas stocking (or your annual budget!), offer them riding lessons at Cavalia.

Riding lessons, trick riding, pony rides, birthday parties... Cavalia is a favourite partner for bewildered parents. Riding contributes to motor development—balance and coordination – but also benefits a child’s cognitive development. Learning to ride a pony or horse means learning to anticipate and manage unforeseen situations, developing self-confidence, and asserting a sense of leadership.

Cavalia offers high-quality instruction based on respect, care, and love for the animal. When it comes down to it, who can resist a pony?

  • Open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm
  • Sundays from 8am to 5pm
  • Minimum age of 3 years for lessons and 2 years for rides

One way to Pangia, please!

Pangia is to the West Coast what Pandora is to the Na'vis of Avatar: a magical world. Mesmerising colours, fairy lights – let yourself be whisked away to Pangia Kids Park, in the heart of Casela Nature Park!

The adorable blue inhabitants of the Pangia universe invite your little explorers to experience a memorable adventure:

  • The Monkey Swing – to awaken the (mini) thrill-seekers;
  • The Flying Hippos – for taking to the skies;
  • The Dino Ride and its miniature Jeeps – to stimulate the imagination of your budding Indiana Jones;
  • Mini-Golf – to perfect their swing!
  • Stars in the eyes guaranteed.
  • Open on Saturdays, from 5pm onwards

Striiike at Cascavelle’s Wonder Bowl

An all-time classic. Invented in the 1850s in the United States, bowling remains a favourite activity for young people. Surviving the ages on the strength of its many appealing features, bowling lets us stretch our legs, stirs our competitive spirit, and brings good advice and laughter to the fore!

Wonder Bowl, at Cascavelle Shopping Mall, has 10 bowling lanes and a restaurant that’s sure to whet the appetite of even the hungriest of participants.

Pro tip: if your kids are still (too) full of energy after two hours in the lanes, we recommend a stop at the mall's new Kids Corner to let them take command of the pirate ship or show off their balancing skills on the mini suspension bridge. Naps on the way back are guaranteed!

  • Bowling
  • Monday to Thursday, 10am to 11pm
  • Friday and Saturday, 10am to 1am
  • Sunday, 10am to 11pm
  • Restaurant
  • Every day from 11am to 10pm

SPARC: HQ for great sportsmen and women in the making

Imagine your little water baby splashing happily in a competition-standard pool. Your eager Messi-in-training, pursuing a ball across an endless football pitch. Your excited future NBA star, occupied with a well-supervised basketball lesson. And then imagine yourself, sitting in the SPARC clubhouse, brunching with friends on a beautiful summer day...

Could there be a more appealing picture? SPARC is THE place to be for the young sportsmen and women of West Mauritius, the perfect place to introduce your child to an extracurricular sporting activity.

  • A children's play corner will soon be operational with swings, trampolines, and sandboxes.
  • Participation from 4 years old, depending on the activity

The essential beach

Tamarin, Flic-en-Flac, Wolmar, Albion... the West Coast of Mauritius has many beaches, each with its unique character.

  • Future marine biologists or keen surfers will love Tamarin Bay and its dolphins;
  • Aspiring architects and engineers can put their skills to the test in a sandcastle competition at Flic-en-Flac Beach;
  • For the explorers who are also searching for themselves, the small secluded beach of Wolmar will be a magnificent discovery;
  • And for those who want to relax – for a day or forever: Albion Beach…
  • Accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the beautiful and lively West Coast of Mauritius.

The West—you're welcome.
